09/10/2007

Celtrak, a Galway based engineering company, that specialises in the design and development of telematics services and solutions using mobile data and Internet technologies, launched two major new products at the IP Convergence Expo in Paris this month.

Celtrak is currently a leading provider of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions to industry and public authorities across Europe, North America, the UK and Ireland where clients include Thermo King, Greenstar, Balfour Beatty and the National Roads Authority.

Celtrak's Festino product, launched at the event in Paris, is a high-end solution for companies that require tight management of a mobile workforce and remote assets. Designed specifically for Utilities, Engineering and Logistics companies, Festino provides accurate data on all mobile asset activity, whether that be vehicles, personnel or product.

Celtrak also launched Veris, an ITS solution for the mass market. Utilising Celtrak's powerful, small and cost effective telematics product - the Datapod - the Veris platform can provide a range of solutions from pay-as-you-drive (PAYD) insurance and road pricing, to speed monitoring and vehicle security. Veris can also be used to provide data for traffic analysis and route optimisation.

Speaking after the EXPO in Paris, Managing Director of Celtrak Mr. Pádraig Kenny said: "There was a lot interest in the new products and the event enabled us to showcase the innovation and bespoke solutions our design teams can offer organisations with a mobile workforce... According to EU stats, the transport industry accounts for 7% of Europe's GDP, with as much as 44% of all European freight being carried via roads, so ITS is a major growth area". Since the company's incorporation in the late 1990's, it has grown by developing enhanced ITS solutions that add value and functionality to a range of business sectors.

Celtrak currently employs 16 people in its office in Ballybrit in Galway, the majority of which are software and computer engineers.
